About

I made this website mostly to keep my family and friends in the loop as I head off on this Antarctic adventure. But since everyone reading this may not know me personally, I figured I should introduce myself beyond the scientist, PhD student, and future Antarctic resident you’ll see throughout the rest of the site.

Here’s a few fun facts about me:

  1. I was born in Lund, Sweden and moved to San Francisco Bay Area in California with my family in 2008. We were only supposed to stay for two years… and 18 years later, here we are! Growing up in America with Swedish roots, I like to think I got the work ethic of Silicon Valley with the Swedish appreciation for work-life balance.
  2. I come from a big sports family, and I played numerous sports growing up. I focused mostly on gymnastics and track & field. These days, I’ve traded organized sports for running, hiking, and (lots of) skiing.
  3. My favorite movie is Pitch Perfect, and I’ve watched it 34 times (yes I keep count). Good Will Hunting is a close second. The duality of woman.
  4. I’m the youngest of three, with two older brothers. Everyone tells me how much sense this makes once they find out.
  5. I’ve lived close to the beach my whole life, but I’d still say I prefer the mountains. Ideally I’d have both.
  6. I finally read the Harry Potter series at the ripe age of 24, and I can’t believe I never got to them sooner. The ending of The Half-Blood Prince crushed me.
  7. I love trying new foods, and there’s only two things I won’t eat – ketchup & peanut butter. I thank my parents every day for their amazing and diverse cooking. I’m still trying to get there with my own cooking.
  8. My favorite food is sushi, but I’d never say no to a good old chicken nugget. Again, the duality of woman.
